CES 2013 ended a few days ago and health related gadgets received a fair amount of press coverage. A fork that vibrated when you ate too fast was a big story. All sorts of wearable health monitors remind you to get up from the screen and walk every hour, sit up straight, take your pulse, temperature, mood. My iPhone reminds me everyday at 12:30 PM to hold my finger in front of the camera lens to gauge my heart rate and mood. And every day I’m directed to a relaxing guided meditation. As a promotion marketer I’ve spent my career trying to motivate consumers to try and ideally buy. So now I’m motivated to get my 10,000 steps in daily. I know that’s my goal because the gadget I wear tells me so. To disobey is to risk fate. So if anyone wants to get a head start on the 2014 holiday shopping I’d like a treadmill desk.
