A Facebook study done by Syncapse (a social performance service company) dove deeper into the reasons users like brands pages and some interesting results were found. Check out the original article on Mashable.
Syncapse and research partner Hotspex surveyed 2,080 consumers and focused on big name brands like Disney, Coca-Cola, Victoria’s Secret, and XBOX. Consumers were asked which of the following predetermined reasons led them to become a fan or like a certain brand on Facebook.
They were first asked as a general question and then about specific brands. The top five reasons why Facebook users liked brands pages were:
- 49 percent: To support the brand I like.
- 42 percent: To get a coupon or discount.
- 41 percent: To receive regular updates from brands I like.
- 35 percent: To participate in contests.
- 31 percent: To share my personal good experiences.
The goal of the study and similar reports were to help brands understand and improve their social media investments. This information can be very useful to a brand that is either new to the social space and is trying to figure out their social strategy or even a brand looking to improve stagnant social activity. These results should be considered alongside business and strategy goals to make sure that works for your brand and consumers. You can download the whole report here.
