The spotlight is on Jennifer Hibbs this month. That’s me! Yes, I was forced to turn the tables and put the MK spotlight on myself. So here goes…
Explain Your Role at MK:
I am the Interactive Account Director here at Marden-Kane, but I also answer to “tech guru” or digital project director. I am the person that bridges the gap between marketing and the technology departments so all of our digital and social projects launch on time, and run securely and efficiently. My responsibilities also include the MK blog and content curation on the MK social channels.
Biggest Accomplishment at MK:
The thing I am proudest of is that we were able to bring all technology development in-house within a few years of my coming on board at MK in 2006. Since then, we have continuously expanded our capabilities and security processes to stay ahead of the curve in terms of our digital offerings.
Favorite Memory at MK:
My favorite memory was meeting MK owner Gibby Kane for the first time. I met her with a group of people at a lunch and didn’t know what to expect. When she met me she welcomed me immediately and made me feel like part of the family. She was so warm and gracious. She really treated everyone with such respect and sincerely cared about every employee and every client.
Something Most People Don’t Know About You:
I have six kids. Yes, I did say six. Three of them are mine and three steps. We are like the modern day Brady Bunch without an Alice.
What Are Your 3 Favorite Things:
- My family. I have a large, eccentric, fun, crazy family that never stops.
- HGTV. I honestly don’t even have a “favorite” show on HGTV, but I will admit to having seen every episode of every Property Brothers, Fixer Upper, Flip or Flop and Love It or List It at least twice if not more. I do have a favorite episode of Fixer Upper: the one where Chip eats the cockroach. (And yes, I have gone to visit The Silos in Waco, Texas!)
- Knitting blankets for new babies.
Your Proudest Moment:
My proudest moment is every time we celebrate any of our kids at some special event. All the birthdays, graduations, first jobs, art shows, solos at concerts, first cars… and basically every time we can get them all together in one place (which is so much harder than it sounds!) I end up crying.
Last Book You Read:
This is my favorite question! My new year’s resolution was to read at least one book a month because it is so hard with our schedule to actually make time for reading. For October I chose a horror novel by Paul Temblay called A Head Full of Ghosts. It was such a suspenseful page-turner I finished it in three days. I like to read everything, especially young adult fiction because I have friends that write for that genre. I also try to alternate between fiction and non-fiction. My last non-fiction was When Breath Becomes Air at the suggestion of our own Rosemary Stein. And my favorite novel so far this year, hands down, was Kathi Appelt and Allison McGhee’s Maybe a Fox.
